Welcome our new Board members!

Please join the Miss Florida Scholarship Program in welcoming two new members to the Board of Directors

Adell Roscoe has been active in the Miss America Organization for over 2 decades. Beginning as a contestant in 1996, she competed each year earning scholarships until her graduation in 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University and attended graduate courses at Regent University. All were funded largely through her participation in the Miss America Organization and enabled her to graduate completely debt free. She is a past Executive Director of the Miss St. Petersburg Pageant, Miss Boca Raton / Miss Boca Raton’s OT, and Miss Ft. Lauderdale Scholarship Organizations.

Her past winners have placed in the top 3 at the Miss Florida Pageant and the Miss Florida's Outstanding Teen Pageant. She has served as State Field Director covering South Florida for the last 8 years. Adell was fortunate to grow up under the guidance and leadership of Barbara Lewis, owner and director of the “oldest finishing school in the south”. She signed as a model at the age of 12, became an assistant instructor at 15, full instructor for pre-teens, teens and advanced runway at 16, then re-wrote the curriculum and instructor’s manual at age 18. She has represented companies such as David’s Bridal, Venus Swimwear, Boston Proper, Budweiser, Revlon, Ford Motors, and QVC. Adell was invited to teach etiquette to Naval Officers aboard the U.S. Naval Aircraft Carrier USS Enterprise and was welcomed back the following year. She had the privilege of working with top designers around the world and has walked in 962 fashion shows to date.

Adell has a passion for mentoring young women. Her experiences in the fashion and beauty industry, the Miss America Organization, women’s bible study, and with those suffering from abuse and neglect are experiences that equip her to empower and support the women around her. Adell takes the most pride in her role as wife and mother. She is married to the love of her life, Michael Roscoe, and is the proud mother to her amazing 12-year-old son, Xander.

Janice Stryker Stern is a recent retiree after enjoying a forty-year career as a dance and tumbling instructor.  A native of New Jersey, she resided in North Carolina for ten years where she owned and operated a successful dance and tumbling studio before relocating to Orlando to manage five studios and to continue her teaching career.

Janice was a member of a USO troop for six years, performed in many theatre productions and is credited with establishing a talent search program in conjunction with her local community arts council.

She takes great pride in having coached students who went on to become talent winners at the state and local levels of the Miss Florida and Miss Florida’s Outstanding Teen Competitions.  Many of her students have gone on to receive top awards in dance competitions both locally and nationally, several of whom went on to have successful careers in dance performance and dance education. In addition, Janice has received national recognition as a choreographer and she is one of the first inductees into the Star Systems Dance Teachers Hall of Fame.

Janice’s initial involvement in the Miss America Organization was as a contestant in North Carolina.  There she competed for several years winning scholarships and various awards. She later served as the talent coordinator and choreographer for her local pageant.  More recently, Janice has worked with the production of the Miss Orlando Pageant, served as Tour Manager for Miss Florida 2018 and is currently the Field Director for Central Florida.  Having two daughters who participated in Florida’s first Sunshine Princess Program, one of whom later competed and won titles and scholarships awarded through the Miss America Organization, Janice is eager to give back to the organization that has done so much for her, her daughters and so many other women she has known and coached throughout the years.

Janice currently resides in East Orlando with her husband of twenty-six years, Peter, and their two fur babies, Winnie and Bubbles.

Thank you Adell and Janice for joining the Board! Stay tuned to the Miss Florida website and social pages for more exciting announcements and updates!
